Sajin Vass Gunawardena’s Bail Application Rejected: Further Remanded Till August 4

Former United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Sajin de Vass Gunawardena was remanded further until August 4 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage a short while ago.

Gunawardena’s lawyers filed a bail application once again, pointing out that their client was in remand prison for nearly three months and that he was having breathing difficulties. However, the magistrate refused the application, directing that Gunawardena’s health condition was not showing any sign of danger to his life.

Sajin de Vass Gunawardena is accused of misusing 23 vehicles belonging to the Presidential Secretariat. He was arrested on May 11 and has been in remand custody from that day.
