The government has fixed the maximum retail price of a coconut at Rs75 and consumer Protection Authority has increased island wide raids against unscruplus traders.
A trader within Muthur Region Secretariat was caught selling coconut at Rs 110 and a case was filed. Acting Magistrate Illiyas Mubaris has imposed a fine of Rs1, 500 on the trader, Consumer Protection Authority officers said.
