CaFFE Demands Provincial Council Election in April

The Campaign for Free and Fair Elections has requested the government to hold the Provincial Council Election in April.Executive Director of CaFFE Keerthi Tennakoon said, the report filed by the 5 member panel for the demarcation of Provincial Councils was presented to the Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils Faiszer Musthapha. The amendments to the Act were made through female representation.
He further said, 222 members are scheduled to be appointed for Provincial Councils.
By making amendments to the constitution  certain interested parties are attempting to postpone the Provincial council Election and requested the subject Ministry to call for an all party meeting and hold a brief discussion over the demarcations and carry out all activities to hold the Provincial Council Election in April as promised.
