The Criminal Investigations Department informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday that Walt and Row Company, owned by Perpetual Treasuries owner Aloysius, had paid Rs one million to Jayasekera two years ago. CID confirmed that former Minister and UPFA MP Dayasiri Jayasekera had received Rs. 1 million from Walt and Row, a subsidy company owned by Arjun Aloysius.
According to the CID, the former Minister had asked his security officer, Amila Kumara Herath, to encash a cheque (Bearing number 566635) issued by Walt & Row Associates (under the current account number 0073900773).
The money had later been handed over to the Parliamentarian by the same officer.
It was Walt & Row that was at the centre of the penthouse transaction involving former finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
The irony is Jayasekera was among the 16 MPs of SLFP who sat in Opposition having voted against Prime Minister Ranil Wickramesinghe at the no confidence motion over the bond scam.
