CID to Grill & Record a statement From Dayasri Jeyasekara Today
Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara publicly acknowledged receiving a cheque of Rs.1 million from Walt & Row Associates-a Perpetual Treasuries Ltd related Group of Company in 2015. He got this cheque encashed through his security officer. He justified the act by stating that this money was received during election time as election fund.
The police officer, who functioned as Security Officer to Mr.Jeyasekera during the said period has made a statement to the CID stating that, on June 13, 2015 Mr. Jayasekara had asked him, Amila Kumara Herath, to encash a cash cheque (Bearing number 566635) which was issued by Walt & Row Associates (under the current account number 0073900773)
According to the statement of Mr. Herath, he then had encashed the cheque from a Kurunegala Bank and subsequently the Money ‘in cash’ was handed over to Mr. Jayasekara.
Investigation is to find out whether the Rs 1million given to MP Dayasiri Jeyasekera is part of the money obtained through bond deal.
CID is to interrogate and record a statement from Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jeyasekera today.
