(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – A couple, an Australian man and a Swiss woman, have been arrested with a stock of heroin in Kalpitiya.
The Australian national was arrested with 680 milligrams of heroin during an inspection at a Police Check Point along the Kalpitiya-Palaviya road.
Upon questioning the suspect, his wife was arrested for being in possession of 40 milligrams of heroin.
The duo is in the country on a two-month tourist visa.
Police said the suspects will be produced before the Puttalam Magistrates’ Court today.
