(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Police Special Investigation Unit (SIU) had reportedly recorded statements from former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shani Abeysekara and the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) B. S. Tissera last week, in connection with illegal departure of Inspector of Police (IP) Nishantha Silva.
The SIU summoned SSP Abeysekara last Friday (06) and recorded a statement from him nearly 4-hours.
IP Silva, who served as the Officer In-Charge (OIC) of the Organised Crimes Investigation Unit of the CID, left for Switzerland with his family last month without approval.
