(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Information Technology Society of Sri Lanka has advised the general public against returning calls from unknown international numbers and also responding to messages received from random numbers.
Issuing a notice, the ITSSL urged mobile phone users to be cautious about calls received through unknown domestic numbers and SMSs.
Chairman Rajeev Yasiru Kuruwitage said the public should not disclose any information in return for purported gifts and prizes.
He said complaints have been received from a number of users who had received text messages requesting for personal information and bank account details.
The Information Technology Society said such incidents should be duly notified to authorities.
