Harin won’t be arrested till 1st September
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Attorney Generals Department has informed the Supreme Court that Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Harin Fernando will not be arrested until the 1st of Sept.
The decision was conveyed in Court by Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris who represented the Attorney General during today’s hearing.
The order was issued when the petition filed by MP Harin Fernando calling for an order for the prevention of his arrest in relation to investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks was taken up for consideration this morning.
The petition was considered before judges Kumuduni Wickramasinghe, Priyantha Jayawardene and Mahinda Samayawardena.
MP Fernando filed a Fundamental Rights petition on the 29th of April, seeking an order to prevent the Criminal Investigations Department from arresting him.
Accordingly, the order preventing MP Fernando’s arrest that was issued till today, was extended till the 1st of September.
