Prevention is better than cure: Prez. Asks for new security plan

Colombo, 27 May, (Fastnews.lk)-In light of recent protests and acts of violence in Jaffna, President Sirisena has advised the Security Council to formulate a new National Security Plan considering the current situation of the country.

The President advised the Security Council to follow this procedure after touring Jaffna and meeting with Security forces personnel.

President Maithripala Sirisena further elaborated that the country should never again be the victim of the terrorism that hindered the progress of Sri Lanka and its people for over thirty years.

The protesting that recently occurred in Jaffna has no direct tie with any terrorist group and backed a legitimate cause, however considering the past of the country it is easy to understand that powers that we do not see can easily use such scenarios to their advantage and promote further violence within the country in a build up to what could be another chance for terrorism to raise its head.

It can be noted that the President too is aware of such possibilities hence leading him to advise the Security Council to make a new Security Plan.
