Finance State Minister meets IMF Deputy MD

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe and Governor of the Central Bank Nandalal Weerasinghe have held talks with Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Gita Gopinath.

Two parties have held talks on Sri Lanka’s on-going economic challenges and the steps taken by the government to address them.

IMF Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath said she had excellent discussions with the Sri Lankan delegation.

State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe and Governor of the Central Bank Nandalal Weerasinghe are currently in Washington to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

The annual meetings got underway yesterday. In addition to attending the multilateral meetings, the Sri Lankan delegation will hold crucial discussions with IMF and World Bank management and technical staff, as well as with officials of key nations.

State Minister Shehan Semasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank Nandalal Weerasinghe and Secretary to the Treasury Mahinda Siriwardana are representing Sri Lanka at IMF and World Bank annual meetings.
