UNP Seeks TNA Support to Safeguard Arjuna Mahendran

In  Central Bank bond issue COPE  is divided into three in finalising COPE report. Each groups holds different views. Group headed by the Chairman of COPE Sunil Hunnunetti said to have decided that    Former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran was responsible for the bond scam and the loss should be recovered from him. His group  has support of nearly 10 members out of 26 members in the COPE. The UNP  group headed by Ajith Perera has support of more than 11 members. They are  of the view that Arjun Aloysius and other directors of Perpetual Treasuries are responsible for the bond scam and also  other directors of Perpetual Treasuries.

Ajith group  recommended to arrest Aloysius and the other directors and take action in accordance with the penal code, he said.

He said the committee had also held several other companies responsible for the scam. Ajith group sought the support of the for TNA members in the COPE to submit  a majority report.

Third Group  hold different views. Under these circumstances it is difficult to  speculate which report will be accepted by the Speaker and the Parliament. Is a 1000 dollars question ?
