Report on tests conducted on fuel samples expected today

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The report on the tests conducted on fuel samples obtained from filling stations across the country is expected to be released today.

Fuel samples were inspected by the Institute of Industrial Technology.

Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Janaka Ratnayake said based on the report they should be able to determine whether that certain filling stations are dispensing low-quality fuel.

Janaka Ratnayake noted that they have received complaints that some filling stations are dispensing 92-octane petrol while claiming and charging from customers the price for 95-octane petrol.

He said they have received around 200 complaints over the issuance of low-quality fuel.

Janaka Ratnayake said complaints have been directed to the Consumer Affairs Authority as well.
