Landslide warnings issued to five districts still in effect
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Landslide warnings issued to residents of five districts by the National Building Research Organisation are in place till 3pm today.
Warnings have been issued to residents of the Kalutara, Kegalle, Galle, Nuwara-Eliya and Ratnapura Districts.
The NBRO said landslide warnings are in place for residents of the Dodangoda, Ingiriya, Walallawita, Palindanuwara, Bulathsinhala, Agalawatta, Matugama and Millaniya Divisional Secretariat areas in the Kalutara District and Ambagamuwa in the Nuwara-Eliya District.
Landslide warnings have also been issued to residents of the Bulathkohupitiya, Deraniyagala, Mawanella, Yatiyanthota, Ruwanwella, Dehiowita and Warakapola Divisional Secretariat areas in the Kegalle District and Kalawana, Ratnapura, Nivithigala, Eheliyagoda, Ayagama, Kiriella and Kuruwita Divisional Secretariat areas in the Ratnapura District.
The NBRO landslide warnings are also in place for residents of the Baddegama, Yakkalamulla, Nagoda, Akmeemana and Galle Four Gravets Divisional Secretariat areas in the Galle District.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
