GMOA attributed to increased migration of professionals
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) says the implementation of new tax policies by the government has increased the migration of professionals from the country, which could push other sectors including health into a precipice.
GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthage said that MPs and party leaders have a great responsibility to submit amendments to the tax policy contained in these presentations. He further said that many people are of the opinion that the government has to implement such tax policies due to the effects of the policies of the International Monetary Fund.
Most of the peripheral hospitals are about to close down as many specialist doctors are leaving the country. The decision to leave the country has turned out to be a good decision for the families of those professionals and GMOA has decided to inform all parliamentarians through a written request to take immediate steps to curb such situations.
