National List Member of the United National Party Hafees has resigned his parliamentary seat with effect from 19th January 2016. Hafees is the brother of Minister Rauff Hakeem. Immediately after the Parliamentary Election, Minister Rauff Hakeem came under criticism for nominating his brother under national list. Subsequently he promised his party members that it would be corrected soon. Under these circumstances Hafees resigned.
