The Working Committee of the United National Party will convene at the party headquarters, Sirikotha, today,(08.02.2016)
A final decision on the Parliamentary seat that is currently vacant following the demise of Minister of Land M.K.D.S Gunewardene will be under discussion.The United National Party and the Democratic Party penned an agreement last week to join forces.
According to the agreement the proposal to appoint leader of the Democratic Party Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka to the UNP national list will be handed over to the Working Committee for deliberations. UNP Spokesman said the proposal is expected to be approved with a majority.
Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka will then be appointed to Parliament if the UNP Working Committee approves the proposal today.
