No bail to Gnanasara Thera- Remanded Till 16th February

Gnanasara Thera was accused of threatening witness, Santhia Ekneligoda and remanded, though he was released on bail in other cases.He was produced before the Homagama Magistrate Court yesterday and his bail application was taken for inquiry. At this juncture the attorney appearing on behalf of Santhia Ekneligoda has pointed out, that there is no provision in law  to grant bail to a person who threatened the witness under Criminal Evidence Protection Law. Homagama Magistrate stated, that there is a problem in interpreting the law and asked the attorney at law to submit the law problem raised in the court in writing.  Until such time  Gnanasara Thera was ordered to be remanded till 16 February 2016.
