Shirani Bandaranayake Released From Three Cases Filed By Bribery Commission

During the previous regime, three cases were filed by Bribery Commission. Plaints based on  non declaration of assets for three years by Shirani Bandaranayake was filed.

When the case of taken up for inquiry today before Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya, the defence argued  that this was a politically motivated case.

The Magistrate considered the defence arguments and ordered the Bribery Commission to inform if it was willing to proceed with the case.

Dilan Ratnayake appearing on behalf the Bribery Commission informed court that it was not willing to proceed with the case.

Followed by this Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today ordered former CJ Shirani Bandaranayake to be acquitted and released from all three cases filed against her by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption.Further the prohibition made by the court for foreign visits was also removed.
