Special Investigation on Daylight Shooting at Dematagoda by CID

The prison  bus was shot at when the suspects were returning  back to prison after they were produced before the Colombo High Court.

The Colombo Crimes Division has commenced investigations into this daylight shooting at prisons bus at Dematagoda.

Dematagoda Chaminda, arrested on charges over the murder of Former UPFA MP the late Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, sustained serious injuries on his stomach, when the bus was shot at in Dematagoda.Assasin’s target appears to have been Chaminda.  However, prison officials in the same bus were not wounded.

Wounded Chaminda  was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, where he is receiving treatment under tight prison security.

Police said the unidentified group arrived on a motor cycle and a motor car involved in this daring daylight shooting. Police said a search operation is underway to arrest those involved.
