Provide Army Protection to CEB Sub-Stations- President

The Country has faced its third island wide power failure yesterday within 6 months. Duration of power failure was over 8 hrs. Apart from sufferings of people,  millions of rupees were  lost to the Industries and country as a whole.

Every time power failures of this nature occurs, heaven promises are given  by Subject Minister and other top officials of CEB that the reason for the failure would be disclosed to the people after the investigation. No such investigation report has been made public. Srilanka is the only country, where anything can be caused and go Scot free. The word ” accountability ” has no place in Srilanka.

Last night’s power failure reflects incapability of officers in charge of CEB  or well planned sabotage to make the people discontent. This should be thoroughly investigated and culprits brought to book. Otherwise, people will loose confidence in good governance and drawn  by the joint opposition.

President Maithripala Sirisena  in the right direction, has directed the army to provide protection to all CEB electricity sub-stations across the country with immediate effect , Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said a short while ago.
