Bangkok Chemical Accident Cost 8 Lives

In the basement of a Bangkok bank, eight people have died in a chemical accident, officials have confirmed.The Siam Commercial bank contractors were working on a fire safety system on Sunday night at the headquarters, the bank said.

They apparently suffocated after a gas mixture which depletes oxygen was released.

Seven others were injured in the incident, which may have been caused by contractors’ “negligence”, it added.

A bank spokesman told the incident took place in a vault storing documents in the head office in Bangkok.
