Russian Foreign Minister to visit SL

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov is to visit Sri Lanka on an official tour.

Deputy Foreign Minister, Ajith P. Perera said that this would be the first time in forty years time that a Russian Foreign Minister is engaging in an official tour of the country.

Adding further Mr. Perera pointed out that he had invited the Russian Foreign Minister to tour the country, when the former visited Russia recently.

He added that during his visit to Russia, the Russian Foreign Minister had closely studied the programme being carried out by the current Sri Lankan government.

Russin Foreign Minister is also plan to open a new Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka.
