Showers in Several Areas

Showers can be expected in many parts of the country today. Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Southern Provinces will experience several spells of showers. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the evening.  More than 75 mm are also likely at some places.

Duty meteorologist , Nimal Bandara said there has been intermittent rain in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 124.7 mm. was reported in Monaragala. A substantial amount of rain was also reported in the drought hit provinces of Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern and Uva during the last 24 hours.

The rainy weather will abate from tomorrow but evening showers can be expected. “There may be strong winds during thundershowers and the public should be vigilant of lightning strikes,” he said.
