Pubudu Jagoda, propaganda Secretary of the Frontline Socialist Party,while addressing a press conference has categorically said that the President on seeing mounting protest arising against the proposed VAT increase from 2nd May said, that he would not allow such increase to burden the people. Pubudu Jagoda reminded the decision to increase the VAT was taken in the Cabinet in March 2016. He questioned, who was the Head of the Cabinet? at that time. It is President Maithripala Sirisena. Therefore, he cannot plead ignorance of the VAT increase . He is trying to deceive whom?, he concluded.
