The Police and tri-forces recently uncovered a gold smuggling racket, where the gold was obtained through auctions at state and private banks and then smuggled out of the country in large amounts.
President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered to take prompt action against an illegal gold smuggling racket.
At a special meeting held at the Presidential secretariat last evening(19) ,measures due to be taken in order to tackle the smuggling ring were extensively discussed at the meeting.
President Sirisena then called for prompt and organised action against suspects involved in the racket.
