Water Tariff To be increased From 2nd May ?

The National Water Supply & Drainage Board said  water tariffs will have to be increased by 4 per cent following the Value Added Tax or VAT amendment which came into effect from the 2nd of May.

A spokesperson at the Water Supply Board said the increase is the VAT increase from 11 per cent to 15 per cent and not an amendment of water tariffs.

However, the Ministry of Finance has not informed the Board to implement the VAT amendment yet.

Increased water tariffs will come into effect immediately after receiving directives by the Ministry of Finance.
