The Sri Lanka Medical Council was directed to carry out an inquiry on the first JMO report. The JMO report was submitted two and a half years after the autopsy. Meanwhile, there were discrepancies in the first and the second JMO reports. The second postmortem conducted by a team of doctors led by Dr. Ajith Tennakoon revealed that Thajudeen’s death was a murder, while the team also informed court that some bone fragments on Thajudeen’s leg were missing.
The Sri Lanka Medical Council has carried out a preliminary investigation on the first autopsy on the body of former Havelock’s Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen. They informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris yesterday that there was a prima facie case against the JMO panel led by former Colombo Chief JMO Dr Ananda Samarasekara.
They have been issued charge sheets by the Medical Council and a disciplinary committee will investigate the matter, the Medical Council informed court when the inquiry on the murder of Wasim Thajudeen was taken up yesterday.
