Monks Should Confine to Temple to Retain Respect From Public

State Minister of Skills Development Palitha Range Bandara said, over the weekend that Buddhist monks by entering politics lose respect from public.
Further he said, that monks coming into parliament was a hindrance to the development of society.  There have been eight monks who entered Parliament in 2004. They were well respected earlier, but they had lost their respect by the time they left the house.  Referring to the announcement made by Parliamentarian,   Ven . Rathna Thera last week, the Minister said, Ven. Rathna Thera  did not achieve anything by coming into  Parliament. But , he would be able to achieve much for the country, if he resign as an MP, he concluded.
