Flood Affected areas Declared High Security Zone – President

After  a discussion with the Disaster Management Secretariat appointed by the president in connection with the flood and landslides, President  declared areas affected by flood and landslides as High Security Zone. Further , he has ordered Land Reclamation Authority to stop filling of lands in Colombo and suburbs. The  value of the properties damaged by the floods in Colombo and the landslides in Aranayake in Kegalle district is estimated at US$ 2 billion, Finance Minister Ravi  said. The government will be able to meet the bill partly through an insurance amounting to LKR 10 billion, he added.
