Bail Granted to Pubudu Jayagoda & Sujith Kuruwita (UPDATE)

Frontline Socialist Party members Pubudu Jayagoda Sujith Kuruwita who were arrested in the morning have been granted personal bail of  Rs 100, 000.

Pubudu Jayagoda and Sujith Kuruwita Arrested by Maradana Police

Followed by one year imprisonment of Kumar Gunaratnam of the Frontline Socialist Party , supporters had engaged in the protest outside the building of the  Immigration and Emigration Department demanding the release of the party’s politburo member ‘Kumar’ Gunaratnam. The protesters, mostly comprising university students, had behaved in a disorderly manner and then proceeded to storm the Passport Office, while causing damage to the building and its gate. They had then clashed with police officers who had attempted to bring the situation under control and disperse the protesters.

Frontline Socialist Party  Secretary ,Pubudu Jayagoda and member Sujith Kuruwita has been arrested by the Maradana police this morning (25), when they had arrived to give a statement in connection with a protest held at the Department of Immigration and Emigration on April 1.
