New General Amnesty Period For Illegal Firearms Announced

A general amnesty period to surrender illegal firearms to the government has been announced once again.
Accordingly, illegal firearms in the possession of the general public can be handed over to the nearest police station, provincial secretariat or district secretariat between the 29th of May and 17th of June.
The Defence Ministry noted this new general amnesty period was announced taking into consideration the various requests made by the general public.
The Ministry further stated that no punishment or legal action will be taken against those persons surrendering their illegal firearms during this period.
