“Fine Selfies” the trends that come and go

The latest trend traversing around Social media involves posting ‘selfies’ while getting fined by Police. It was questionable as to what the legal standpoint regarding images like this.

Raising the question to the Police Media spokesperson Ruwan Gunesekara as to the exact legality behind such incidents he replied “it is not illegal but can be used as evidence in court” he also said that it gives positive publicity of the Police doing their job properly and makes people realize they will be fined for driving without heeding road regulations.

He concluded by saying that the legal background of having photos taken while on duty must be taken into consideration and checked and that he would further comment when the matter is looked in to properly.
