ISIS Costs U.S. More Than $2.7 Billion

The Pentagon revealed on Thursday the U.S. has spent more than $2.7 billion on fighting ISIS militants since attacks began last August, with an average daily cost reaching more than $9 million. The Defense Department released a detailed outline of costs, highlighting that the Air Force has been responsible for two-thirds of total spending, or more than $1.8 billion.

The Army spent $274 million on training and Special Forces troops on the ground while the Navy spent $438 million for fighters and other ship support. The report also showed secret special operations costs totaled more than $200 million since August.

The report came as Congress rejected legislation that would have barred military spending on combat operations until a new war powers resolution was passed.
