Breathing Problem to those Living in Close Proximity to Salawa Army Camp

Director Heallth Services Dr. Palitha Mahipala said, that there is breathing problem to those people ,who are living in close proximity to the destroyed Salawa Army Camp in Kosgama. He further said, to ensure Health Services necessary steps have been taken. Within a few minutes of the blast, hospitals in Avisawela, Karawanala and Homagama were kept in readiness to treat wounded persons. Further 27 Ambulances were sent to the site of the blast .
In this incident, while one person died 8 people were admitted to the hospital with injuries. One of those obtaining treatment in Avisawala Hospital has been sent to Kandy hospital. Except 5 all others returned home. Other than, this 39 people were treated for breathing problem  in this area. Health groups have visited this areas and doing examination.
In the meantime Deputy Director of Central Environment Authority Dr, Sathya Rathnayake said, that the atmosphere is mixed with other molecules .Examination is being done once in three hours. He has proposed to examine well water in these areas for pollution. Further Main water supply tank for this area is located closer to the Army Camp, Water Supply from this tank has been stopped. said, Chairman of Water Supply and drainage board, K.N .Ansar . Precautionary Security measures have been taken.  Water Supply to these areas has been arranged with 12 bowsers and 200 water tanks.
