Pavithra Wanniarachchi filed a case before the Colombo Additional Magistrate regarding cheating. In this case, a person by the name of P.B. Punchihewa reported to have taken Rs. 02 million from the Parliamentarian to find her a luxurious house from Battaramualla for rent. The suspect did not find the house nor did he return the money. Court ordered the suspect to return Rs.200,000 within one month and to pay Rs. 1.8 million in the month of January, 2017. Court allowed him surety bail of Rs. 1 million.
When the case was scheduled to be taken up yesterday. In the meantime the Colombo Additional Magistrate, Aruni Attygala has observed that during the court session, Pavithra Wanniarachchi was instructing her lawyer in such a manner disturbing court proceedings. Colombo Additional Magistrate, has warned Parliamentarian ,Pavithra Wanniarachchi that as a lawyer, she should know how to instruct her lawyer without disturbing the Court.
Normally lawyers are instructed outside the Court, but not in a manner which is disturbing.
