Mangala Faces No- Confident Motion

Reports indicate that the Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera had  expressed his opinion in UNHRC and  still of the view that foreign Judges must be employed for war crimes tribunal. But on the other hand  the President’s statement last week confirmed  that only local Judges would be employed for this purpose.
“The President should immediately  remove him  from the Government or ask him to  resign. If not, we must bring a No-confidence motion against him.  I propose to  discuss this matter  with the party leaders of the Joint Opposition, at the next Party Leaders’ meeting,”  said Gammanpila , who was in remand and released on bailed recently.
Another  member of  the  Joint Opposition from Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and UPFA MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena , commenting on Samaraweera’s alleged contradictory statement  said , “The President himself vouched to say that nothing would happen in that regard. I really don’t know what the foreign minister is up to. We don’t know whether he is in this government or another government or whether he is working for someone else. Perhaps he is functioning under someone else’s instructions. We are not sure about this. If he really functions as a member of this government then he should resign. A No-confidence motion will be brought against him in parliament  very soon.
