If JVP Banned It will be Compelled to Take Arms : Nalin Hewage

During the Southern Provincial Council meeting held yesterday, a tense situation occurred when PC Minister Weerasumana Weerasinghe criticised the JVP for its past conduct. The PC Minister said the JVP had destroyed state properties during the 88-89 insurrections.
This has provoked  Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Provincial Council member Nalin Hewage, who said that his party would be compelled to take arms, if the government decided to ban the JVP.
Further he  said, the party was in the democratic stream, until the UNP government banned it in 1983.
“The same situation will arise if the government decides to ban the JVP in the future,” he added.
