Mohamed Muzammil Further Remanded Till 27th July 2016

Media Spokesman of the National Freedom Front Mohamed Muzammil who was arrested and remanded over financial fraud was produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court once again today.   He has been further remanded until 27 July 2016 by Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court short while ago.

Mohamed Muzammil was arrested by the Police Special Investigations Unit on the 20th of June on charges of misusing state funds amounting to 6.2 million rupees.

Police informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court that Muzammil during his term as an active Director of the State Engineering Cooperation misused an official vehicle of the Presidential Secretariat and obtained 6.2 million rupees from the Cooperation for a vehicle.

He is charged of depositing the money into a bank account under his wife’s name. Meanwhile, Mohamed Muzammil is also due to produce his bail application compiled by his Attorneys calling Muzammil to be released on bail.
