VAT Hike Demonstration in Pettah Caused Heavy Traffic Congestion

Heavy traffic congestion has been reported in the Pettah area due to a protest being staged by shop owners and traders against the increase of Value Added Tax (VAT).

Protests against the VAT increase were recently held in various parts of the country too .

Police request motorists to use alternate roads  in order to avoid inconveniences.
