Three Sri Lankans Arrested With Foreign Currency Worth Rs 166 Million

Three Sri Lankans including two women have been arrested for attempting to smuggle 166 million rupees worth foreign currency to Dubai.
The Sri Lanka Customs said the trio was arrested after they arrived at the Katunayake International Airport in hopes of leaving to Dubai this morning.
The stock of currency was discovered following a tip-off receiving this morning. Deputy Director of Customs Parakrama Basnayake said the currency was concealed in their luggage.
Deputy Director of Customs Parakrama Basnayake said during the investigations it was revealed that smuggling money to foreign countries have been reduced during the past.
Further investigations pertaining to the incident are underway by the Airport Customs.
