Colombo High Court Issued Notice on the FCID & the AG to Appear in Court on 1st August 2016 Over Basil’s Bail Application

The Financial Crimes Investigation Department (FCID) of the Police and the Attorney General have been notified to appear before the High Court on 1st August 2016, as respondents to Basil Rajapaksa’s revision application.

In his revision application, former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa seeks to overturn the Magistrate Courts decision to remand him over the case in which he is accused of misappropriating funds belonging to the Divi Neguma Development project.

Rajapaksa was arrested on July 18, after appearing at the FCID to make a statement relating to investigation on financial fraud alleged to have been committed by him.

He was remanded until August 1 by the Kaduwela Magistrate.
