Gampaha district Parliamentarian Prasanna Ranatunga, his wife Maureen Ranatunga and one other person , are charged with threatening a businessman over the phone and demanding Rs.64 million from him. When the case was taken up inquiry yesterday , the Court was informed that the third accused Naresh Kumar Fareek was evading Court.
Hence, Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Waidyatilleke decided to conduct an inquiry in this, on next hearing date.MP Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife are currently out on bail. This case was fixed for inquiry on 30th August 2016.
