Repairs at Heart Operation Theatres Heart Patients Risk their Lives

There are three operation theatres to carryout heart operations at the Colombo National Hospital. Even this three opertation theatres are not sufficient to meet the demand. Heart patients have to wait for more than three months to get their heart operations done.

While this is the situation in the National Hospital, two operation theatres used for heart operations have been brought under repairs. Although two months have passed still the repair has not been completed. Only one operation theatre said to have been used for heart operations now. List of patients waiting for heart operation is increasing. When these two operation theatres were brought under repair, no alternate arrangements have been made, public alleged.  Director of National Hospital. Anil Jayasinghe said that it will take another two months to complete the repairs.  Heart patients have to wait and risk their lives.
