Rishad’s Request Met

Last week people of Oluvil held a demonstration in order to bring their problems to the notice of the power that be. Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen intervened and collected all datas concerning with their problems. Equipped with this data, Rishad met the Chairman of the ports authority Dhammika  Ranathunga yesterday.
Rishad has pointed out that the Oluvil village is being swallowed little by little by the sea. He stressed the need to take urgent steps to stop sea erosion and safeguard the Oluvil village. In support of his claim, he submitted maps, sketches and other datas.  In this discussion Managing Director and other technical experts of the port authority participated.
As a result of this fruitful discussion, to stop sea erosion a team comprised of top official, experts of ports authority and coastal protection and maintenance management department’s Deputy Director are under taking an inspection visit on 11th and 12th of August 2016 to Oluvil.
