Randoli Perahera Parade in Kandy Tonight

The historic Esala festival which began on the 3rd of August will conclude with the Day Perahera and water cutting ceremony to be held tomorrow. More than 2,000 persons will take part in today’s Perahera, along with around 75 elephants. The Perahera, consisting of traditional dances and magnificently decorated elephants, is the biggest Buddhist festival in the country. It is held annually in honour of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha enshrined at the Temple of Tooth in Kandy.
The Esala Perahera attracts thousands of devotees, pilgrims and foreign visitors to the hill capital and is a major tourist attraction.The final Randoli Perahera of the historic Esala Perahera in Kandy will parade the streets tonight.
The final Randoli Perahera will start today at the auspicious time of 8.09 pm from the Sri Dalada Maligawa facing South.
