UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova Visited Maithripala Sirisena

UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova called on President Maithripala Sirisena, he  expressed that the UNESCO is happy to support restoration and preservation of the important cultural heritage sites of Sri Lanka at the President’s Official Residence yesterday (17)

She further said  that the UN is highly pleased about the total commitment displayed by the government of President Sirisena for resolving pressing issues.

The President thanked UNESCO for the assistance provided to Sri Lanka for culture, education and science for a long period of time.

He  visited Sri Lanka on an invitation extended by President. This was her first visit official to Sri Lanka. She visited several cultural sites, met with local scientists and also witnessed the Kandy Perahara during her visit  in the Srilanka.
