A lawyer for Namal has said the Ford Mustang was bought with the duty free vehicle allowance in 2010 and then sold to a businessman.
But cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne said yesterday, that the vehicle seized from MP Namal Rajapaksa by the FCID does not belong to the category, which can be imported with MPs’ duty free vehicle license.
Duty alone is around Rs. 15 million, which has not been paid to the state , he said.
He told the media yesterday (07) that investigations are being carried out to determine the identities of persons with whom Namal has had connections, said the minister.
