Fire in Kilinochchi Town

A fire has erupted at the Public Shopping Complex in the Kilinochchi town, destroying several shops.

The fire which erupted on Friday night was extinguished with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Army, Police and residents of the area. The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.

Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre, Pradeep Kodippili said the fire department was called as soon as word of the fire emerged.

In the meantime , a private tea factory in Balangoda was damaged following a fire.and  the fire was extingushed early this morning with the assistance of the Balangoda, Pinnawela police and the Ratnapura fire extinguishing unit.
