India Won by 197 Runs Against New Zealand in 1st Test, 5th day

India 318 (Vijay 65, Pujara 62, Boult 3-67, Santner 3-94) and 377 for 5 dec (Pujara 78, Vijay 76, Rohit 68*, Jadeja 50*)
 New Zealand 262 (Williamson 75, Latham 58, Jadeja 5-73, Ashwin 4-93) and 236 (Ronchi 80, Santner 71, Ashwin 6-132)
India entered day five needing six wickets and the Kiwi batsmen needed 341 runs for an improbable win. At the start, or the first half of the first session, Luke Ronchi and Mitchell Santner provided strong resistance and provided a fitting challenge to India’s spin bowling. They attacked the bowlers at will but things changed post the drinks session.
Ronchi played a poor shot to depart on a Ravindra Jadeja delivery to break a 100-plus stand and that was enough of an opening required by the hosts.
And if the spin was not working, the reverse swing of Mohammed Shami struck twice in as many balls to make it a good end to the first session for India.
Things panned out rather quickly in the post lunch session as Ashwin struck quickly and consistently to wrap things up and give India a 197 run win. In the process, Ashwin also picked his fifth ten wicket haul.
